In the pursuit of advancing healthcare services, Prof. Dr. Essam Farhat, the President of Minia University, welcomed the delegation from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Taha, the President of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayman Hassanein, the Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development. The aim was to promote a culture of quality and enhance patient safety concepts according to the latest 2025 edition of the initial accreditation standards for hospitals. This initiative aligns with the political leadership's directives to elevate healthcare services within university hospitals, in line with the requirements of the second phase of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System.
The delegation included Dr. El-Sayed El Okda, a member of the Board of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation and a professor of occupational medicine at Ain Shams University's Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Walaa Abdellatif, a Board member of the Authority and a professor of medical microbiology and immunology at Ain Shams University's Faculty of Medicine, Counselor Kareem Arafa, the legal advisor to the President of the Authority, Dr. Shimaa Abdelfattah, the General Manager of the General Administration for External Training at the Authority, and Dr. Mahmoud Arafa, a member of the Authority's Training Management.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Essam Farhat, the University President, emphasized that the cooperation between Minia University and the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation reaffirms the university's pivotal role in supporting the healthcare system in the governorate. The university continually strives to train medical and administrative staff according to the latest quality and accreditation standards set by GAHAR.
President Farhat highlighted that the intensive training program organized by the Authority reflects the state's commitment to developing healthcare infrastructure and improving service levels. Minia University places utmost importance on spreading a culture of quality and patient safety within its university hospitals, in harmony with the objectives of the second phase of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System.
Dr. Farhat stressed that the university aims for its hospitals to serve as a model in applying modern standards, appreciating the fruitful collaboration with the Authority and the technical and training support provided to healthcare professionals. This support will contribute to delivering a safe, effective, and scientifically sound healthcare service to the people of Upper Egypt.
The GAHAR delegation praised Minia University for hosting the intensive training program for the healthcare sector, which aimed to train around 1000 participants in quality management, infection control, occupational health and safety, as well as medical teams from Minia University hospitals and the private sector, following the latest 2025 edition of the initial hospital accreditation standards.
The delegation explained that the intensive healthcare sector training program, conducted by the General Administration for External Training at the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation, lasted for two days under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Abdelaziz, the Executive Director of the Authority, and in the presence of Dr. Salman Hamdy, the Director of Central Quality Management, along with heads of departments and professors from the Faculty of Medicine at university hospitals.
